Chip and Joanna Gaines Can't Shake Off the Awkward Way They Met Taylor Swift

Chip and Joanna Gaines reveal the awkward meeting they had with Taylor Swift.

This is one encounter Chip and Joanna Gaines can't shake, shake, shake, shake, shake.

During the Fixer Upper: Welcome Home stars' Feb. 14 appearance on The Tonight Show, the couple detailed the first time they came in contact with pop icon Taylor Swift.

According to Chip, 48, the "Anti-Hero" artist made a heart symbol with her hands when she spotted the former HGTV stars at the Time100 event in 2019. He told host Jimmy Fallon, "Taylor swift rolls in, she kind of catches eye contact with, I thought, me, but Jo swears to this day it was her, and she goes like this to us."

Joanna, 44, initially doubted the gesture was for them, adding, "We both thought it was for sure someone behind us."

While Joanna joked that they looked "like idiots" trying to figure out if the motion was for them, the moment ultimately stuck with them. "It made our day," Chip gushed. "We were thrilled. We were smitten."

Of course, that wasn't the only memorable part of the evening. As Chip detailed, the Time100 event was where he flirted with Martha Stewart "in an aggressive—in a very real way."

Don't believe Chip? His wife chimed in, "Yeah, you did."

Apparently, the remodeling expert said to Martha, "If anything ever happens to Jo, watch your DMS."

However, Martha shouldn't be looking at her DMs anytime soon, as the duo is about to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in May. The TV personalities share five children together, including sons Drake, Duke and Crew and daughters Ella Rose and Emmie Kay.
