Like children’s books? We’ve got the event for you this weekend at the Columbus Library
Whether you’ve enjoyed ‘”Big”, followed the adventures of “Biscuit”, or wanted to make a “Last Stop on Market Street” the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries has an event just for you.
The Columbus Children’s Book Festival returns to the Columbus Public Library Saturday May 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free and no tickets are required. The library is located at 3000 Macon Rd. in Columbus.
The event includes crafts, games, food trucks, entertainers and the opportunity to meet and get autographs from the following authors at the following times.
Vashti Harrison, winner of the 2024 Caldecott Medal for “Big”. (11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. )
Matt De La Peña, the Newbery-winning author of “Last Stop on Market Street”. ( 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. )
Alyssa Satin Capucilli, creator of the “Biscuit” series. ( 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m ).
R. Gregory Christie, fine artist and illustrator of more than 40 children’s books. ( meet and greet from 11:15 a.m. to Noon, cartooning workshop from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There will also be a festival bookstore with works by the visiting authors can be purchased. Credit cards and cash are accepted.
The festival is produced by the staff of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries. Sponsors for the event include the Muscogee County Library Foundation, the Columbus Cultural Arts Alliance, Aflac, PMB Broadcasting, WRBL News 3, Outfront Media and the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.
