In the wake of Kate Middleton announcing her cancer diagnosis, royal fans from across the world have sent her messages of well-wishes. However, the words of encouragement from a particular 8-year-old hold extra special meaning for the Princess of Wales.

Mila Sneddon—who met Middleton when she was 4 after being diagnosed with leukemia—sent a touching message to the mom-of-three on Friday, March 22, the same day the royal provided the health update.

“She will be brave because I was, and she will fight it like I did,” Sneddon, who was declared cancer-free two years ago, told The Mirror. “I hope she feels better soon and I wish her a speedy recovery."

Meanwhile, Mila's mom, Lynda Sneddon, weighed in on the future queen's diagnosis. “It shows cancer doesn’t discriminate, it can affect anyone at any time," she told The Mirror. "We wish her a peaceful and speedy recovery."

On X (formerly Twitter), Lynda wrote: "We extend our love, support and well wishes to William, George, Charlotte and Louis, and wish Catherine a peaceful speedy recovery #YouAreNotAlone."

Following Middleton's video announcement about her cancer, the Princess of Wales and her husband, Prince William, released a joint statement thanking everyone for their outpouring of well-wishes.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson shared the royals “are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the U.K., across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message.”

The statement continued: “They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time."
