Praise the fried chicken lords: Shake Shack, the upstart burger chain from New York City’s Danny Meyer and company, this morning announced its newest menu item: The ChickenShack. Just two months ago, the company filed a trademark application for “chicken shack;” the news spurred a thousand rumors.

In what is clearly a trial run, a press release notes that the new sandwich will only be available for a limited time and is only available at its locations in Brooklyn. Queue queues, now.

From the release:

The ChickenShackTM ($6.29) is a crispy all-natural and antibiotic-free chicken breast with lettuce, pickles and buttermilk herb mayo. The ChickenShack is available exclusively at our Brooklyn Shacks (409 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn, 1 Old Fulton Street in DUMBO and 170 Flatbush Avenue across from the Barclays Center) starting on July 7, 2015 for a limited time.

Eater New York is live on the scene, and will be sending updates as they are available.

Fried chicken seems to be a hot topic in the fast food, fast casual, and casual dining spheres this year. KFC has embarked upon a massive rebranding campaign in an effort to retain fans, while Chick-fil-A prepares to stretch its wings in the Pacific Northwest and Northeastern U.S. Higher on the food chain, chefs like David Chang (Momofuku, Fuku, NYC), and Philly’s chef Michael Solomonov (Federal Donuts) are carving out miniature fried poultry empires. New York City’s Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken recently expanded to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Could ChickenShack become its own stand-alone concept? Do dreams come true?
