Chick-fil-A Is Testing a New Spicy Chicken Sandwich with Pimento Cheese
Back in 2019, it seemed like all we really had to worry about was who made the best chicken sandwich. Popeyes led the charge for a while, with its then-new offering inspiring long lines and a verifiable arms race among its competitors. Though the world is a very different place one year later, Chick-fil-A hasn’t lost sight of the need to innovate in the cutthroat chicken sandwich space.
To that end, it looks like the popular Georgia-based chain is trying out a Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, which combines the classic elements of a Chick-fil-A sandwich with a bit of extra heat, plus a signature southern spread. In essence, you’re getting your choice of fileted chicken (regular, spicy, or grilled), adorned with a sweet touch of honey, the tangy creaminess of southern-style pimento cheese, and a heap of jalapenos to make sure there’s enough heat here to work with.

Because fast food brands like Chick-fil-A like to test out their boldest creations in particular markets before taking them nationwide, the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich seems to only be available at certain South Carolina Chick-fil-A locations. But based on a review from YouTube PapiEats, it sounds like the sandwich not only tastes pretty good, but also satisfies in the spice department (thanks to a spicier-than-normal pimento) as well.
With Popeyes’ infamous chicken sandwich now a year old, it looks like the competition could be heating up in the near future if Chick-fil-A decides to take this sweet-meets-heat combo nationwide. Let’s just hope that it doesn’t lead to the same kind of mass hysteria that the Popeyes sandwich inspired, because we’ve already got enough going on right now.
