Jesse Lee Soffer marked his return to Instagram—and just in time for the 4th of July weekend.

The Chicago P.D. alum gave fans a rare glimpse into his summer plans with his latest snap shared in the early hours of July 3.

“How’s your summer going? Mine’s cool. A baby praying mantis landed on my arm,” he captioned the shot, which featured him creeping into the corner of the photo with the focus mostly on the green insect situated on his upper left arm.

The 39-year-old appeared to be dining at an outdoor restaurant when the photo was snapped.

Soffer’s former co-stars, Tracy Spiridakos and LaRoyce Hawkins, were quick to double-tap the post and give it a like.

Fans, on the other hand, were simply happy to see him back on the platform again, with one noting “yay you finally posted again.”

“That's cool. The mantis likes you 😁. Glad to hear your summer is going well. Have a great time,” another fan chimed in.

Naturally, others used the moment to throw in their request for Soffer to return to the NBC Dick Wolf-created crime drama, stating, “Tell us Jay is coming back to CPD and my days might just get better?”

The actor broke hearts when he departed the series in October 2022 after a 10 season run as Detective Jay Halstead.

A few months later, he explained his decision to exit the series and leave his character behind, noting, "I’ve thought so hard about how to answer this question and there’s no good answer, except I was ready for more.”

He returned to his old stomping grounds a few months later, this time serving as a director for a March 2023 episode.

As for whether or not he’d ever return to the role for a special appearance, he told Parade, “I mean never say never,” adding, “I would be open to it. It’s up to the writers and it's whatever they need to do to service the characters. Obviously, I love Halstead, always will, so if something came up, I would probably be open to it.”
