‘Chicago Fire’ Star DuShon Monique Brown Has Passed Away at 49

It’s a sad day for Chicago Fire fans. DuShon Monique Brown, who played Chief Boden’s no-nonsense assistant, Connie, on the show, has died at the age of 49.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has confirmed that Brown passed away on Friday shortly after noon at Franciscan St. James Health Olympia Fields. While her cause of death has yet to be announced, representative, Robert Schroeder, confirmed she died of “natural causes.”

According to TMZ, the star had reportedly admitted herself to a Chicago hospital days prior with chest pains, but was released shortly after tests checked out.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to the outlet that Brown’s family called paramedics on Friday morning after she began feeling unwell. She was then taken to the hospital, where she passed away.

“The Chicago Fire family is devastated to lose one of its own,” the show’s executive producer, Dick Wolf, said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with DuShon’s family and we will all miss her.”

Actor Steve Piper, who appeared on the show as a fireman, also paid homage to the late actress, calling her “an amazing and talented friend.”

In addition to her role on Chicago Fire, which she began in 2012, Brown was a theater actress who also did voice-over work, counseled students at the Kenwood Academy High School, and appeared on a slew of other popular TV shows, including Prison Break, Boss, Empire and Shameless.

RIP, DuShon Monique Brown — you will be greatly missed.
