  • Chicago Fire fans will see a wedding before the season 8 finale.

  • Severide is Cruz's best man, but he "falls short" on his duties.

Putting out a fire is nothing like planning a wedding—and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) is going to learn that the hard way.

When Otis (Yuriy Sardarov) died at the beginning of season 8, a dark shadow fell over Firehouse 51. Everyone was desperate for some good news after the loss of their beloved crew member, and it came in the form of Cruz (Joe Minoso) and Chloe's (Kristen Gutoskie) surprise engagement.

However, Otis had been Cruz's closest friend and roommate—so the groom-to-be needed to find someone else to be his best man. He ultimately asked Severide to take on the role and everything seemed to be falling into place.

That is, until it actually came time to plan the wedding. Actor Joe Minoso revealed what fans can expect from Severide leading up to Cruz and Chloe's big day and it does not sound good.

"He kind of falls short on his best man duties, so we're going to get to see how he fails," Joe told TV Line.

A sneak peek for the upcoming episode, titled "Shut It Down," supports his claims that Severide may not be the best man for the job. In the short clip, Cruz has a meltdown about choosing a wedding cake flavor. When another crew member brings up the bachelor party, it only adds to his stress. "Ugh, something else I need to plan!" he groans.

Nearby, Severide is busy searching for his lost wallet and clearly doesn't notice how overwhelmed Cruz feels—so Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) comes over to scold him.

"Did you not even hear Cruz spinning out just now?" she asks. "Kelly, you're his best man. He needs your help."

That might've been the push Severide needed, and Joe confirmed that he ultimately succeeds: "Because that's what we do on Chicago Fire."

Ugh, our hearts! ❤️
