Chica Boss: Meet these bellas and poderosas latinas! Our hosts for a glamorous day at Estée Lauder Companies

Estee Lauder Companies invited us to spend a wonderful day celebrating our Latin culture during Hispanic Heritage Month with some of their talented executives and makeup, hair and fragrance artists. Their testimonies and experiences prove that Latinas can also occupy high and prominent positions in an industry that we love and enjoy so much and of which we are stars and dream consumers.

In the video above you will see five Hispanic protagonists in action who stand out within this prestigious company and who above all are women who enjoy their physical attributes and have learned to make the most out of them in order to share practical tips that can be very useful to us all.

We began our beauty lesson with Patricia Reynoso, Executive Director of Cultural Relevance and Engagement at Estée Lauder Companies who has amazing curly hair, and in the hands of Britt Guzmán Dion, Artistic Director of Styling for Aveda North America, learnt how to show off her curls with style .

"Patricia loves her curls but doesn't always feel confident wearing them," says Guzmán. "In our professional world sometimes we are forced to straighten them, but today I wanted to show you how you can handle them naturally."

The expert recommends taking care of your curly hair starting by the scalp and hydrating it often. The Aveda Nutri Plenish line is ideal to clean it and also to style it with the help of the Leave-in Conditioner which protects it from the excessive heat of styling tools and you can also finish off with a dab of Curl Gelée from the same line.

"Once you have well-hydrated locks, a curling iron is ideal for managing each curl and giving your mane greater texture," concludes Britt Guzmán Dion.

To learn about straight and shiny hair, we used Alicia Romero, Vice President of Brand Integrated Communications and Cultural Relevancy at Estée Lauder Companies, as our model.

"Everything begins with a healthy scalp and this morning before starting we used a hydrating and detoxifying mask with Alicia that cleanses and removes any residue and buildup from other products," explains Guzmán, who used a mask from the Aveda Botanical Repair line. "It gives volume to the hair, is refreshing and makes your scalp feel healthier. Taking care of the scalp is now a priority and a big trend," she says.

Alicia loves to show off her luscious long hair. "Before we thought that adult women couldn't wear long hair," she confesses and wears it in a very beautiful way that frames her face and looks shiny and healthy.

To style it, Britt Guzmán used a little of Aveda Invati Advanced Foam and Aveda Bond Building Styling Cream from the Botanical Repair line.

The turn to show off her makeup techniques came for our dear artist Cassandra Garcia, Director of Global Education at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

For Patricia she created a luminous and simple eye look that started with the eyebrows. "Once you define the eyebrows and perfect their arch to frame the face, it is easy to do a basic makeup that opens up your eyes," she says.

From the collection of long-lasting eye shadows, Bobbi Brown Dual Ended Long Wear Cream Shadow Sticks, she initially applied Taupé/Golden Pink to the entire lids, but to give the eyes more luminosity she added a touch of Nude Beach/Pink Mercury to the inner corners.

"Now let's move on to the lips, because no makeup can be finished without perfect lips," said Cassandra. "These could be red in the case of Latinas but can also be very natural."

In Alicia's case she decided to use a more natural and neutral tone, saving red for a special evening. "With natural or nude lips you can also wear more dramatic eye makeup. The lipstick shade chosen was Bobbi Brown Luxe Lipstick in Pink Buff.

Latinas love fragrances because we all know they are the perfect invisible accessory that complements our look and evokes wonderful sensations and memories.

Fragrances can also be used to give our work environment or our home a special atmosphere, which is why Patricia Montelongo, Executive Director of Education for Jo Malone London, focused on recommending Patricia Reynoso a fragrance that inspires her when it comes to writing and editing.

"That's right, aromas are a sensory experience that immediately elevates you, makes you evoke memories or sensations," said Montelongo.

"I love Jo Malone London candles," added Patricia Reynoso. "These English Pear and Freesias candles inspire me in my work as an editor and writer, because I love playing with words since they can also evoke memories like aromas do."

Montelongo notes that these candles add a refined touch to the work environment plus a delicious perfume. She also recommends that before lighting them the candle wick should always be cut and when you are done they should never be blown out. You should instead use the metal lid to cover them and extinguish the flame.

Finally, we let ourselves be carried away by one of the fragrances most appreciated by Latinas. We transported our senses to Mexico with Alicia and Jo Malone London Red Roses Cologne. "As a Mexican American, on a spiritual level, this means a lot," she told us.

Kika Rocha

"There is not a Latino home you enter that does not smell like roses. If being Latin could be summed up to a fragrance, it would be precisely this scent."

"There is also a special symbolism with the Virgin of Guadalupe and that is why when I want to connect with my roots and my culture I always think of Jo Malone London Red Roses Cologne," explained Romero. Montelongo added: "We can turn to the aroma and beauty of red roses to immediately fill our space with loving energy."

When applying a perfume, the expert recommends not rubbing it into the skin but pressing it onto the skin with light touches so as not to eliminate the initial notes of the fragrance. "Always look for the points on the body that emanate the most heat so that it lasts longer: wrists, behind the knees, the back of the neck and the hair."

Hairstyled, glammed up and perfumed, we finished off our experience at Estée Lauder Companies swept away by the beautiful energy of our executive friends and beauty experts.

The practical tricks and beauty tips of these five Latina experts behind some of our favorite beauty brands inspired us, as do their achievements and life stories that we will be sharing one by one during this week in separate articles to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Thank you dear ladies and thank you Estee Lauder Companies for giving us this chance to share beauty lessons that make us feel more confident, beautiful and even more Latina!
