If Cher, 77, could turn back time, she wouldn't change a thing about her relationship with Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, 37.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, the “Strong Enough” singer proclaimed that she is very happy as she celebrates her one-year anniversary with Edwards. “He’s just so special,” she told the outlet. “I hate when people say people are special, but lots of people say I’m special, so I can say that he’s special.”

The pair met in 2022 at Paris Fashion Week, where Cher says they interacted for “about 15 minutes.” After a friend gave the music producer Cher's phone number, things just fell into place. “I had been telling all my friends, ‘We’re too old to go out with really younger men, and I will never fall in love on text,’ so I did what I said not to do!” Cher joked to PEOPLE.

However, despite their differences, the Moonstruck actress only has more faith in love after their first year together. “No matter what happens, I love being with him,” she said. “He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”

Edwards is a singer, producer and the VP of A&R at Def Jam Records. He previously dated model and rapper Amber Rose from 2018 to 2021.

Meanwhile, Cher was married to her former singing partner, Sonny Bono, from 1964 to 1975, and to musician Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1979.

As two musically-inclined stars, it should come as no surprise that Cher and Edwards recently collaborated in the studio. In fact, Edwards produced the song “Drop Top Sleigh Ride” for Cher's forthcoming holiday album, Christmas, which will be her first-ever Christmas LP. The album will be released on October 20.

Thank you for your words of wisdom, Cher.
