Cher

Cher is finally speaking out after her daughter-in-law accused her of orchestrating her son's abduction.

Marieangela King first made the claim in court documents from last Dec., when she filed additional divorce documentation for her separation from Elijah Blue Allman, son of the late Gregg Allman, but the rumor didn't pick up steam until Sept.

According to King, she and Allman, 47, were in a Manhattan hotel room in Nov. 2022—nearly a year after she first filed for divorce in Dec. 2021—where they were attempting to reconcile their relationship when four men burst into the room and made off with him. She accused the legendary actress and musician, 77, of orchestrating the whole thing, seemingly to keep the two separated from one another and force Allman into rehab for his alleged heroin addiction.

While Cher isn't divulging all of the nitty-gritty details, she has assured People that “that rumor is not true,” though she did confirm that the issues are related to Allman's addiction.

“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” she added. “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children."

She continued, "You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”
