Cheetos Unveils the Spiciest Flamin’ Hot Flavor Yet

The snack aisle just got a whole lot hotter, thanks to an all-new flavor of Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

The fan-favorite snack brand turned the heat up a notch (or two, maybe even three) by using one of the world's spiciest peppers to create Cheetos Flamin' Hot Smoky Ghost Pepper Puffs.

The new snack is said to rival the heat index of other Flamin' Hot Cheetos, which isn't surprising if you're familiar with its key ingredient. The ghost pepper packs one million units on the Scoville Scale–the universal measuring tool describing any pepper's "hotness"–and is 100 to 400 times hotter than a jalapeño. Its rating also falls just below that of the Carolina reaper, which is considered the hottest pepper in the world with a recorded two million Scoville heat units.

Fans know that Cheetos has a history of using its Flamin' Hot line to experiment with bold, unique flavors and previously introduced the Cheetos Crunchy Flamin' Hot Tangy Chili Fusion and the Flamin' Hot Pepper Puffs in 2020. But what they may not know is that this is the first time the brand will have added a smokey flavor to its snacks, something the company said that it hopes takes consumers "by surprise."

According to a statement shared by a spokesperson for the company, the Flamin' Hot Smoky Ghost Pepper Puffs are exclusively available in Walmart stores nationwide and online as well as via Frito-Lay’s Snacks.com for a limited time (we're told from May 22 through Aug. 14 or presumably, until supplies last).
