How to check water levels at lakes, rivers in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — As Memorial Day weekend approaches, many Arkansans are planning to make their way to the many lakes and rivers Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley has to offer.

If you want to check water levels before heading out to the lake or river, the National Weather Service keeps tabs on the levels in various areas throughout the region.

NWS and the United States Geological Survey have interactive maps showing the current water levels. Various locations also show forecasted water levels.

The Buffalo Outdoor Center updates water levels for multiple spots along the Buffalo River every five minutes, so you can decide if the water is too low or too high to go floating.
