As food delivery services become more popular with consumers, the major players are working to entice shoppers. GrubHub recently partnered with Amazon to bring Amazon Prime members two free years of delivery service. One of GrubHub’s biggest competitors is working to lure in more customers, too.

DoorDash is doing it up big this summer. It has tons of savings for its members during the Summer of DashPass with weekly changing deals at various retailers, convenience stores, and fast-food restaurants. Now, when DoorDash users open up their app to take advantage of those deals or simply order dinner or groceries from their establishment of choice, they’ll see some brand-new features on the app.

What’s New on the DoorDash App

This is DoorDash’s biggest app update in 10 years. The brand says it’s now easier than ever to use—redesigned “to make shopping and discovering new options on DoorDash even more convenient, reliable and personalized”—and we’ve got the details you need to know.

  • Universal Search Function: DoorDash introduced a universal search bar at the top of the app. With one search bar, customers can search for anything the company offers from restaurant food to groceries to retail goods.

  • Retail Tab: DoorDash calls this feature a “virtual shopping mall” that’s accessible from the app’s homepage. Shop for home and office supplies, pet toys, gifts, beauty products, and more.

  • Grocery Tab: This feature makes it even easier for customers to get grocery delivery through the app.

  • Browse Tab: If you’re an impulse shopper, you may want to avoid this new feature. Not sure what you’re looking for? Browse to discover everything DoorDash offers from its partners—restaurant deliveries and 100,000 non-restaurant businesses including grocery stores, convenience stores, flowers, gifts, party supplies, and more.

  • Multiple Carts: Users can now simultaneously have multiple carts going and check out each cart individually. If you’re building your grocery list or your kids’ back-to-school shopping list, but need to order dinner, you won’t lose the items in your other carts when you DoorDash dinner.

  • Increased Post-Checkout Tipping Options: Customers can reward Dashers (that’s the term DoorDash uses for its drivers) for excellent service by adding or increasing a tip on the DoorDash app up to 30 days after delivery.

An Upcoming DoorDash App Feature

DoorDash members can currently take advantage of the features listed above. The company is also gradually rolling out SNAP/EBT online payments to customers in the US, Canada, and Australia. DoorDash says this feature will unlock ”new possibilities for everyone”—many people have been left out of food delivery services—as they partner with grocery stores including ALDI, Albertsons, Safeway, Meijer, and participating 7-Eleven stores.
