It's the final weekend of July in Shreveport, so before the kids head back to school you should make the most of your weekends. From drag shows at Bear's to wizard-themed scavenger hunts and Nerf gun battles, here's what's happening in Shreveport this weekend.
Friday, July 28
Lip Service Drag Show at Bear's - Join host ZaZa Gigante as they bring the hottest local entertainment to the stage. Featuring the Dancing Diva of the SBC Estara Knowles Katz, the Bearded Beauty Sarah Tonin Katz, the Tumbling Twink Luna Ray Katz along with Monroe Legend and icon Sasha Black. The party starts at 11 p.m. with a $10 cover at the door. Bear's is located at 1401 Fairfield Ave. in Shreveport.
The Boy Wizard Scavenger Hunt at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery - Don your robes, grab your wand and get ready for an adventure through the museum in this unique scavenger hunt. The museum will host fantastical creatures, professors of the occult arts and enchanting artifacts to titillate the inquiring minds. This event will take place from 1 - 5 p.m. until Sunday, July 30 at 4747 Creswell Ave. in Shreveport.
Saturday, July 29
The Language of Coffee at Lyons Pride Coffee - Check out the first of four sensory classes hosted by Lyons Pride Coffee. This event is a coffee experience exploring the relationship between aroma and flavor. This an entry-level, hands-on class that introduces you to the coffee lexicon with practical opportunities to explore your own flavor profile. This event is from 10 a.m. - Noon at 3809 Youree Dr. in Shreveport. Tickets are $38 each and can be purchased at the Eventbrite page.
Sips & Dips with V at On Cloud Wine - Go from wine rookie to wine connoisseur with this intimate wine tasting and informational hosted by Soul Sister Socials. Taste four different wines while being educated on wine pairing and proper wine etiquette. This event will be from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at 6936 Buncombe Rd. in Shreveport. Tickets are $45 each and can be purchased at the Soul Sister Socials website.
Build and Paint Day at The Gamers XP - From Noon - 3 p.m. at 1134 Shreveport Barksdale Hwy. in Shreveport you can showcase your artistic skills and connect with fellow enthusiasts while immersing yourself in the world of miniature painting. For $15 you can choose a Wizkids Paint Night kit that contain everything you need to bring your miniature to life. The winner of the "best painted" popular vote will receive a set of free paint and all participants will get a 25 percent discount on paints and hobby supplies. Tickets can be purchased at The Gamers XP website.
Kids vs. Parents Nerf Battle at Sci-Port Discovery Center - Bring out your inner Nerf gladiator at the second annual Nerf Battle Day from 1 - 4 p.m. at 820 Clyde Fant Pkwy in Shreveport. Bring your own Nerf blaster and ammo along with some goggles to battle it out. Entry is $20 per person and includes admission to Sci-Port Discovery Center, GamePort and a free small Icee. Battle times will be 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the solarium with each battle being 30 minutes long. Register at the Sci-Port website.
Sunday, July 30
7th Annual Bridal Symposium at Eleven Events - From 3 - 7 p.m. you can meet and greet with wedding vendors, do cake tastings and more. There will be finger foods and mimosas from Up For Brunch. There will be a $5 cover at the door. Eleven Events is located at 1529 Texas Ave. in Shreveport.
