Check your freezer—Tyson has recalled 30,000 pounds of dino-shaped chicken nuggets

If your kiddo is a fan of Tyson Foods’ dino-shaped “fun nuggets,” you’ll want to check your freezer, because the company has issued a recall on nearly 30,000 pounds worth of the fully-cooked chicken nuggets.

Per a press release issued by Tyson Foods announcing the recall, the voluntary recall comes after a “limited number of consumers have reported they found small, pliable metal pieces in the product,” with the U.S. Department of Food and Agriculture (USDA) noting that, so far, there has been “one reported minor oral injury” associated with the recalled nugget bags. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is asking buyers to discard or return 29 ounce bags with a “best if used by date” of September 4, 2024. The impacted bags were sold in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Impacted products bear the product codes 2483BRV02 07, 2483BRV02 08, 2483BRV02 09, or 2483BRV02 10, and establishment code P7211. Product cases may be identified by code 048153-6910, 10000048153.

If you are in possession of a recalled bag, the company is requesting that you cut the UPC and date code from the packaging, discard the product, and call or text 1-855-382-3101. Consumers can also call this number with any questions or concerns during business hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. For general food safety questions, you can reach out by calling the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or by sending a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov.

Hopefully, there are no further injuries due to the contaminated chicken nuggets, and that buyers can receive a refund or credit for a new bag ASAP. Food recalls can definitely be a bit unnerving, but it’s always great when a company issues swift action and prioritizes the safety of consumers.
