The saying is true: One man's trash (ahem, boxes in the attic) is another man's treasure. This time, Mattel's Polly Pocket toys are the hottest item on the resale market. We all had them. If by a slim chance you didn't, you certainly know what they are. The teeny-tiny toys were a must-have for every 80s or 90s kid - and the bane of existence for parents (and vacuums) everywhere.

For most of us, these pocket-sized dolls are now stashed away in an undisclosed box in the attic or basement. Turns out, it's worth uncovering your once-loved dolls because they're now selling for hundreds - if not thousands.

Sets in mint condition are selling for upwards of $1,400 in the UK. An unused Polly Pocket set from 2008 currently has a bid on eBay for over $10,000. Seriously.

More people are starting to jump on the eBay bandwagon and there are listings as high as $800 in the states. As you'd expect, the older items - or shall we say, vintage - are a hotter commodity. This well-loved set from the late 1980s is selling for $599, whereas this brand spankin' new set is selling for a modest $495.

These prices, while steep, are for larger sets that come with everything you need for a picture-perfect Polly world. Smaller sets are being sold on eBay and Etsy for more sensible numbers, like $20 and $58. The average single sets are being sold for $10- $40. But hey, that's still not too shabby!

Word to the wise: Even if you have a few Polly Pocket sets to your name, it might be worth trying to make a quick buck.
