The Cheapest Destination to Travel to This Year Is...

One of your biggest resolutions for the new year: Save more money. Another big one: Travel more. Yikes, those two don’t really go hand in hand…That is, unless you can jet-set for less. And thanks to new research from Kayak, we have a destination to do just that.

On your mark, jet-set and go: It’s Guadalajara, Mexico. The biggest city in the state of Jalisco, Guadalajara is known for its beautiful contradiction of old and new. A hub for a booming tech industry (hence the nickname “Mexican Silicon Valley”) stands in wonderful contrast to its traditional neoclassical and colonial architecture, charreadas (or rodeos) and its numerous plazas and public parks. Plus, we hear the tequila never stops flowing as long as the mariachi keeps playing.

Now, for the “won’t break your budget” part. We found round-trip tickets for around $200 on Google Flights and super-cheap hotel prices (like, 50 bucks a night), meaning you can spend the rest of your cash on as many tortas y tacos as you can fit in your mouth.

Buen viaje, amigas!
