Chase Stokes may have landed a starring role in Netflix's Outer Banks, but there was another huge series with the streaming service that first caught his eye — Stranger Things. Chase dished to Access Hollywood about flubbing his lines while auditioning for the role of Steve Harrington in the Duffer Brothers series.

"I actually read for Steve Harrington, and I forgot all the lines and absolutely effed up," Chase said. "I drove eight hours from Atlanta back to Orlando, regretting every moment of my life on that. While he may not have landed the role of Steve, The Duffer Brothers did cast Chase in the show's premiere season as a character named Reed.

According to Chase, his character didn't have any lines, but he still appreciated the role. "I'm just thankful for the Duffer brothers for giving me an opportunity to, like, do my job and start my career. I mean if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here."

ST fans know Joe Keery actually landed the role of Steve, and Chase couldn't be more proud. "Joe Keery is an absolute legend who is so good as Steve Harrington," the OBX star said. "I'm super proud of him. I've talked to him a little bit through the years."

Things may not have panned out for Chase in Hawkins, Indiana as a member of Stranger Things, but he managed to make a lasting impression as the leader of the Pouges in the barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina in Netflix's Outer Banks.
