When she isn’t disappearing into a character, Charlize Theron is standing out in the latest runway trends. The Oscar-winning actress has a knack for pulling off dramatic fashions, even when she’s far from the red carpet—and yesterday in New York, she took a statement look from Isabel Marant to the streets. In a boxy six-button blazer and cropped silver jeans from the designer’s Resort 2020 collection, Theron projected off-duty glamour with laid-back ease.

On anyone else, denim and a jacket would be a non-event, but Theron knows how to take otherwise casual pieces and give them a little more oomph. The metallic texture of her jeans, combined with the blazer’s extreme proportions, and finally paired with her glossy patent Pierre Hardy flats elevated the entire look without sacrificing comfort. An oversized Saint Laurent sac du jour bag, meanwhile, tied everything together with its black leather and metal studs.

Currently on the promo tour for her latest film, Bombshell, Theron and stylist Leslie Fremar have kept fans on their toes fashion-wise: switching from bejeweled Alexander McQueen to accept her lifetime achievement honors at The Hollywood Film Awards, to gilded Dior Haute Couture at her Africa Outreach Fundraiser. The glamour is thrilling, but Theron manages to bring the same level of excitement to quieter moments, too—turning each coffee run or meeting into an editorial-worthy style statement.

Mickey: I also believe that colleges have HUGE endowments they use for all things OTHER than student lending. For instance Penn State has over $4.25 BILLION in endowments. Harvard $40.9 BILLION. University of Michigan, almost $12 BILLION. Yale, Texas, Stanford, Princeton all in the $20-$30 BILLION area. So, why is the tuition rising so much and so quickly again?
