Charlize Theron Just Proved How Versatile a Bowl Cut Really Is

This fall, Charlize Theron is apparently hosting a months-long masterclass on how to style short haircuts. When the actress debuted a bleached bowl cut in early September, people were baffled by how the usually frowned upon style could look so elegant — but that's Theron for you. More than a month later, she hasn't grown out the bowl cut a bit and is clearly feeling herself. Our evidence? The several inventive ways she's styled it thus far.

At a red-carpet event on October 14, Theron strayed far from her usual center part with front-facing bangs. Instead, she had her hair styled in a slick side part with a little volume in the front. The look comes courtesy of Adir Abergel, Theron's right-hand hairstylist who created this bowl cut to begin with. He shared a video of Theron's side slick on Instagram. "Androgynous hair vibes tonight on my boo," he wrote in the post's caption. Theron confirmed that she took this haircut plunge as part of her upcoming role in Fast & Furious 9, but seeing the way it's styled here makes us think she should keep it forever. Just take a look at it from the front and back.

Though most of us hear the term "bowl cut" and automatically harken back to scarring experiences in middle school and having their hair cut at home by their parents, Charlize is giving it a new connotation, one style at a time. What's next? A textured pompadour? Soft, side-swept bangs à la Michelle Williams? A curly mop-top? One thing's for sure: Whatever style she chooses next, it's going to look good on her. Because she's Charlize freaking Theron. Can't disagree with that.
