Charli and Dixie D’Amelio Designed a Mattress That's Perfect for Those Who Like to Work From Bed
At House Beautiful, we talk and write about beds a lot. But more often than not, we tend to rank mattresses by their quality and level of comfort. The latest release from Simmons has us rethinking that criterion. Its newest mattress wasn't just designed for sleeping — but for living, for working, for scrolling, and for brainstorming that next big idea.
TikTok megastars Charli and Dixie D’Amelio are the masterminds behind this new release. The sisters, who have garnered a cult folllowing for their fun, comical, and flawlessly transitioned musical bits on the app, are respectively the second and third top earning creators on the platforms, according to Forbes. However, if you follow their videos, you may have noticed that they record many of them from their bedrooms. "We spend a lot of our time in our rooms and particularly in our beds, Charli tells House Beautiful, adding "it is where we get inspired, and where we often create."
That being said, having a space to sleep that also doubles as a creativity hub is a must for the D'Amelios. So when they teamed up with Simmons, they wanted to create a mattress that was more than just something to sleep on.
Enter the Charli & Dixie x Simmons bed! This dreamy mattress is equipped with two inches of gel memory foam as well as a motion separation layer that allows for ultimate comfort, but also minimal interruption as you move around cooking up new ideas. It also has a colorful and playful look because as Dixie tells us: "Who says mattresses have to all look the same?" A beautiful crossover pattern in white and blue decorates their mattress. "We wanted to mix things up," she says.
But what's exceptionally enticing about this mattress is that it promotes the idea that it is in fact possible to make your dreams come true from bed—after all, it's designed by two girls who rose to fame from their bedrooms in their family's Connecitcut home. During a time when WFH has become a norm, it's refreshing to see that you don't need always need an extravagant home office or work space to inspire you. Sometimes you just need a really good mattress! As Charli says in a statement: "Our beds are the new offices for our generation, where we check messages in the morning, where we listen to music and podcasts, where we stay up late FaceTiming with our friends, scroll aimlessly on social media to get inspired and most importantly, it’s where we look forward to going after a busy day."
In addiction to designing their first mattress with Simmons, the D'Amelios are also tapping into their home decorating skills by upgrading the bedrooms of two of their fans! From now until May 16, 2021, fans can post a TikTok showing their current bedroom and explain why they need a revamp and include #SimmonsDreamRoom and #Contest in the caption, as well as complete the entry form. Once submissions close, Charli and Dixie will each pick a fan's bedroom to rmakeover in somewhat of a sibling design showdown. They shared a few details with us about their decorating styles.
"I would say my decorating style is minimalistic and I’m usually drawn to neutral colors with my bed as the centerpiece," Dixie says, adding that organization and having functional décor in my room is a must. Meanwhile Charli is all for creating a room that reflects her personality. "I like to keep it simple with pops of color, and surround myself with my favorite things," she says. Already, she's carved out a spot on her new bed for her iconic stuffed animals collection as seen in her videos.
