Breakups are tough, there’s no skirting around it. But factor in being a teenager with literal millions of followers watching your every move, then imagine throwing a breakup on top of it. Sadly, that’s what’s happening with Charli D’Amelio as her breakup from Chase Hudson (aka Lil Huddy) has teetered into messy territory over the past couple of days. But before we get into the weeds, let’s recap, shall we?

While it appeared that Charli and Chase were trying to be very amicable about their public split, Chase went on Twitter dot com to accuse a sh*t ton of TikTokers of cheating on each other. In response to Chase airing everyone’s dirty laundry, Charli replied, “Stop deflecting you’re [sic] actions onto others because you can’t take responsibility, Chase. Want me to talk about how you treated me throughout our relationship or do you just want to continue to play the victim?” Yikes.

In the time since then, Charli deleted all her pics of Chase on Instagram, and Chase and Nessa Barrett (who Chase kissed/cheated on Charli with) have been receiving tons of hate online. Despite the fact that Charli has every right to be mad with the way things have gone down, she did an Instagram Live addressing the drama and made a tearful plea to her followers to leave both Nessa and Chase alone.

She said:

“The drama that has happened in the last few days was handled completely immaturely, myself included. It should not have happened online and it breaks my heart to see the people that I love get hate. I was extremely hurt and I felt betrayed so I did what I had to do to make myself feel better, but I know that was not the right thing to do and I will make sure that does not happen again.

“I don’t want to make excuses for myself and I let my Twitter fingers get the best of me, which is something I never waned to do in the first place, because that’s not who I am. I never come on here and show my true emotions, it’s just you guys need to know it’s never okay to tell anyone to kill themselves, it’s never okay to just blatantly make fun of people for them making a mistake.”

After apologizing to Nessa for the hate she’s been getting over the past few days, Charli also issued an apology to Chase, saying she’s “very sorry that you’re getting hate. You do not deserve to be told the awful things that people are telling you to do.” She also said Chase will always “hold a very special place” in her heart. “I still love Chase from the bottom of my heart, no matter what has happened,” Charli said.
