Charleston Beach House #3: A Peek Into This Swank Dwelling...

Over the last two days, we've shown you a glimpse of our recent tour of favorite beach houses on Sullivan's Island, just outside Charleston—the first house is here. The second, here. It was all part of Charleston Insiders' Weekend, and the tour was a hit. We had beautiful weather, enthusiastic guests, and enough architectural and interior design ideas to send us all home happy and inspired.
Today, we're bringing you the third and final house on the tour. Inspired by a Barbadian resort, it is a stunner sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Meet Beau Clowney, the architect who designed the house. Carolyn Griffith did the interiors, and the landscape design was the work of Robert Chesnut. (Dear Beau, We love the arched doorways. Sincerely, Coastal Living)
Natural light pours into this living room. Over the mantel hangs a painting by artist Sally Benedict King.
Painted vertical paneling in the family room establishes a laid-back, beachy vibe. White + tangerine = immediate mood booster!
The views are the headliner in the kitchen, where the sink and prep space face the Intracoastal. I'd fix dinner here.
A piece by Charleston sculptor John Dunnan holds an artful arrangement of jewelry. Did you catch its neighbor, a chic little lobster presiding over the dining table?
Guests swooned over this room! No joke, the tour suddenly halted into a bottleneck. Just days before the tour, the owners transformed a guest room into a smashing oversize, and super organized, closet.
These shoes... We could talk about these shoe racks for days. (The colors are very coastal, no?)
Back to the water: This is the view from the rear porch. The pier leads out to a handsome boat house, a great perch for marsh gazing and weekend reading. The pavers, with their slices of emerald grass tucked between, are my favorite, along with that slim pool surround.
Speaking of the back porch, this is the one. The checkerboard tiles elevate the outdoor space, and clear paneled railings ensure little gets in the way of that view.
One of my favorite pool cabanas: It's like a beachy VIP room. We love the louvered shutters that swing out.
After the tour was over, we snacked on savory and sweet pastries from Wild Flour bakery...
... Sipped wine, provided by the good folks at Spire Wines.
