Charles Melton Apologizes for Fat-Shaming Tweets
Riverdale actor Charles Melton (who took over the role of Reggie in Season 2) has come under huge amounts of very justifiable criticism over tweets that were posted in 2012.
These fat shaming tweets from Charles Melton make me sick pic.twitter.com/nxabu4Xv38

The alleged tweets in question involve Charles fat-shaming women, and include comments like "Fat chicks need to understand that wearing yoga pants is a privilege, not a right," and "I find it hilarious when fat people say they need to start eating right. When they have already mastered the art of chewing and swallowing."
Obviously, the internet isn't thrilled.
are there still people who actually stan and support charles melton?

Charles made his Twitter private following backlash, and Twitter didn't exactly appreciate that, either.

The actor finally apologized via statement, saying "I’m truly sorry for making inconsiderate comments several years ago and apologize to anyone I hurt. What I posted and said was immature, offensive and inappropriate. I am ashamed of how I acted and there is no excuse for that behavior. I’m striving to do better and will use this experience to grow, helping others to understand how these types of statements are completely unacceptable."
FYI, some fans are ready to forgive Charles for his comments, pointing out that they were made when he was 21 and that he's likely grown up a lot since then.
Are people still blaming @_MELTON_ for tweets that he posted like 6/7 yrs ago? I mean, grow up you guys. I’m not saying that his attitude was the best bc it was not, but everyone commits mistakes and he’s not an exception. I’m sure he has regretted doin it. #charlesmelton
