Charges dropped against Cardinals rookie WR Christian Kirk over alleged rock-throwing incident

The Scottsdale, Arizona attorney’s office dismissed charges of disorderly conduct and property damage on Wednesday filed against Cardinals rookie wide receiver Christian Kirk.

The Arizona Republic reported that the charges were dropped on Tuesday. Kirk confirmed the news Wednesday afternoon on Twitter.

Kirk was arrested for allegedly throwing rocks at cars

Kirk was arrested at the PGA’s Waste Management Phoenix Open in February after allegedly throwing rocks at cars while drunk near the golf course.

“The suspects were intoxicated and leaving the WMPO,” the Scottsdale Police said, according to the Republic. “As they were walking through a parking lot, security personnel observed them throwing rocks at cars and breaking a window of at least one of them.”

The Cardinals were aware of the incident before drafting Kirk out of Texas A&M in the second round of April’s NFL draft. Kirk was considered one of the best receivers in the draft and projected by many to go higher than the 47th pick.

“We spoke with Christian about it at length and also looked into it independently,” a Cardinals spokesman told the Republic after the draft. “Our understanding is that the process will be resolved in the near future but while it remains an active legal matter, we won’t comment further.”

Charges reportedly dropped after Kirk pays for damages

Scottsdale city prosecutor Karen Close told WHAS that her office decided to drop charges after Kirk paid restitution.

Kirk noted that he was “confident that the facts and the truth would ultimately validate the type of person that I am” after the charges were dropped.

He’s apparently the type of person who reportedly pays for damages after he’s arrested for allegedly bashing strangers’ cars with rocks.
