Fate: The Winx Saga is taking Netflix by storm and fans can't get enough of the live-action The Winx Club reboot. While the show does have some changes from the original animated series, there's one major one that has some fans wondering about this brand new world a little bit. Fire fairy Bloom is a changeling in this version, which makes her story even more different than what we've seen before. But just what does that mean for her?

*Major spoilers for season 1 of Fate: The Winx Saga below!*

Here's everything about changelings in Fate: The Winx saga.

What is a changeling?

If you're a big fan of fairy tales, then you've definitely heard of a changeling before. In most stories, a changeling is a fairy child that replaces a human one, typically without the baby or the human parents knowing. The fairies then steal the human child so there isn't any confusion. Sometimes they would be raised to serve the house that they are now living in or would be given comfortable lives while living in the magical realm.

How is Bloom a changeling?

Throughout the show's first season, Bloom finds out that she actually was born in the Otherworld. However, Rosalind switched her to live on Earth in an effort to protect her from the Burned Ones who seem to be after her. While she initially believed that she was Aster Dell, she later finds out that those who lived in the town were actually Blood Witches who stole her from her original parents. By the end of the season, Bloom's original origin still remains a mystery.

How is Bloom's origin different in Fate: The Winx Saga compared to The Winx Club?

In Fate: The Winx Saga, it's confirmed that Bloom was switched with a baby that was born on Earth, which is why she's considered a changeling. However, in the original The Winx Club, Bloom actually wasn't switched. Her father found her while he was trying to stop a burning building and saved her. He brought her home to his wife and they raised her until she discovered her powers at the beginning of the series and heads off to Alfea.

Does Bloom ever find out who she really is in The Winx Club?

We're still not sure about Bloom's past in Fate: The Winx Club, but in The Winx Club it's revealed that she's actually the second Princess of Domino and the realm's guardian fairy. Knowing about her powers of the Dragon Flame, her sister sends her to Earth to keep her safe after Domino is attacked.
