Can we interest you in a briefcase full of MoonSwatches?

That’s right. Because even if you haven’t yet gotten caught up in the MoonSwatch hysteria, the opportunity to score nearly a dozen of them in a single swoop is too tempting to pass up. At least that’s what Omega is betting on, because between February 12 and 24, Sotheby’s will host a globally accessible online sale to auction off 11 MoonSwatch Mission to Moonshine Gold suitcases. You read that right: Suitcases full of every Omega x Swatch “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watch that’s been released.

For those that need a MoonSwatch recap: In early 2022, mysterious advertisements began appearing in newspapers around the world signaling some kind of product from Omega and Swatch, sister companies in the Swatch Group. Then, in March of that year, the MoonSwatch debuted—a relatively affordable, quartz-powered Speedmaster cased in Swatch’s Bioceramic plastic and available in 11 colors inspired by the solar system.

The results were mind-boggling, calling back to the Beanie Baby craze of the ’90s as people lined up, in the rain and the cold, for hours outside Swatch boutiques for a chance to buy the watches. Capitalizing on the frenzy, Swatch and Omega released numerous other MoonSwatch models, including 11 Mission to Moonshine Gold variants with a seconds hands coated in Omega’s 18K Moonshine Gold. Watch collectors ate those up, too—at a few hundred bucks each, they’re much more affordable than a Canopus Gold Speedy, yet still offer much of that high-end timepiece’s cool factor.

Scoring a single MoonSwatch has been tough enough, though the frenzy has somewhat subsided, depending on which market you live in. (Last fall, for reference, I saw a line outside a Swatch store in Cannes that was only 15 people long.) The chance to snag all of the current Mission to Moonshine Gold pieces at once, however—and to support an excellent charity in the process—is sure to get collectors’ juices flowing. What’s more, the watches come in a special blue briefcase with a golden monocle featuring the Omega x Swatch logo, plus a special engraved coin.

If you’d like to check out these unique collections before you bid, they’ll be displayed in Swatch boutiques in Zurich, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, London, Milan, Paris, and Sydney from February 1 through 11. (Or, if you’d prefer a single MoonSwatch to 11 of them, maybe hold out for the Snoopy edition that seems to be in the works instead.)
