Champion is no stranger to collaborations. This year, the athleticwear company has partnered with several brands, including renowned menswear designer Todd Snyder, lifestyle gaming brand HyperX and Dr. Seuss (yes, like the children's books). Now, they're adding to the ever-increasing food and beverage clothing space and releasing a limited-edition collection with Coca-Cola.

The Champion X Coca-Cola capsule collection practically oozes American nostalgia. Pieces feature bright and bold graphics evolved from the soda's archived artwork using 1980s-style primary colors and their old slogan, "It's the real thing." Clothing and accessories for both men and women feature vintage glass bottle artwork and intricate embroidery with Champion's signature logo woven throughout in pops of red, green, purple, orange and blue.

“We are excited to partner with a world-beloved brand like Coca-Cola on this collection that resonates across cultures and personalities,” David Robertson, director of Champion brand marketing, said in a press release. “Consumers have grown up drinking Coca-Cola and wearing Champion, leading us to create designs that inspire nostalgia while being on the cutting edge of style.”

Coca-Cola's slogan, "It's the real thing," first launched in 1969, but was cemented in American history with the 1971 "Hilltop" ad that featured the iconic song "Buy the World a Coke" with the words, "I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony."

At the time, the U.S. was in chaos with protests against the Vietnam War, racial tensions, the Watergate Scandal and more. The "Buy the World a Coke" ad was co-created by Bill Backer, a McCann-Erickson ad executive who, according to Slate, wanted “a big basic idea—one that would involve the entire United States market for Coca-Cola," regardless of race, economic status or beliefs. The song became so popular that it was later re-worked and released as a single by both The Hillside Singers and The New Seekers.

The Champion X Coca-Cola collection is available online and in-stores on Friday, Nov. 22 in the US and Canada, as well as at East Bay, Foot Locker and Footaction stores, for a limited time. Prices range from $10 to $100.
