Champaign County Master Gardeners holding annual Garden Walk in June

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign County Master Gardeners are hosting their annual Garden Walk this June, where green thumbs across the area can explore and admire local gardens.

The self-guided tour is part of the overall Garden Gatherings event, which takes place on June 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Garden Walk will include five private gardens from county homes and two public gardens. Master Gardeners will be on stand-by to answer any questions and share their knowledge.

“This year’s Garden Walk promises an exceptional display of creativity,” event organizer Mary Knight said. “We’ve included a truly diverse selection of gardens on this year’s tour. From enchanting English gardens and lush Hosta groves to displays of tropical orchids, there’s something to inspire every visitor.”

Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Champaign County Master Gardeners’ community projects, like educational gardens at the Champaign County Crisis Nursery, the Idea Garden, and Ying Ying’s Garden.

“Garden Walk is more than just a tour of splendid gardens; it’s a unique opportunity for garden enthusiasts to give back to their community,” said Ginger Boas, University of Illinois Extension County Director. “The funds raised from this event go towards supporting a wide range of educational programs, scholarships, and new horticulture initiatives for individuals of all ages and skill levels.”
