Chairish Just Designed a Villa at the Colony Hotel—and We’re Ready to Move In

The Colony Hotel and Chairish just debuted what may just be the design collab of the year: The Chairish Villa at The Colony Hotel. While you might expect Palm Beach pink and chintz to reign supreme, Chairish’s local design partner Catharine Willmer Interiors filled the 1,624-square-foot villa with fun and surprising additions like contemporary art, mid-century furnishings and layers of sophisticated fabrics and finishes.

There are still plenty of nods to historically significant Palm Beach design through chinoiserie, Chinese Chippendale silhouettes, hand-painted flourishes, natural materials and tropical animal motifs (after all, it wouldn’t be The Colony Hotel without their iconic monkey mascot!). Not to mention, the breezy, bright and feminine Florida color palette offers an unmistakable sense of place.

Every design detail was meticulously curated for this space—even the wallpaper and fabric pairings were inspired by archival photos from the Yellow Roses Room at the Flagler Mansion in Palm Beach. Chairish tapped artists and artisans to create bespoke pieces that make this villa a design destination. 20 artists known for their use of happy color—including Liz Marsh, Hope Olson, Brock DeBoer, Lia Burke Libaire, Venetia Syms, Ron Giusti, and Virginia Chamlee—created the pieces displayed throughout the villa. Contemporary artisan Mario Lopez Torres also crafted the handmade rush lighting—including the living room chandelier featuring The Colony Hotel’s monkey mascot, Johnnie Brown.

“I adored every aspect of creating The Chairish Villa at The Colony. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate a glamorous, historic and beloved design destination and reinvent it for today’s sophisticated, design lover,” says Anna Brockway, co-founder and president of Chairish. “From the onset, Chairish and The Colony Hotel’s design intentions were in complete harmony to create an unforgettable retreat that honors Palm Beach’s design history in a modern and fresh way.”

When it came to furniture, Chairish selected pieces from coveted vintage makers like the Biellecky Brothers, Paul Frankl and Gabriella Crespi. Furnishings for the villa were sourced from Chairish vintage dealers within 5 miles of the hotel, which naturally provided the design an inherent sense of place and acted as a more sustainable buying method.

“The collaboration with the Chairish team was an absolute delight,” says Colony Hotel Owner and President Sarah Wetenhall. “We are so thrilled with the final result, and we're confident that guests staying in The Chairish Villa will be as well.”
