Chad Michael Murray brought his “A Cinderella Story” character back to life for a really important cause
In a move that’s making our nostalgic hearts melt, Chad Michael Murray brought his A Cinderella Story character back to life, and it was for a super important cause.
The actor reclaimed his role of Prince Charming (aka Austin Ames) from the 2004 movie, which also starred Hilary Duff, for an Alice in Wonderland-themed prom organized by the Children’s Hospital of Orange County on Saturday (June 24th), where he donned his original costume from the film
Murray, who welcomed his second child earlier this year, shared on Instagram his thanks to Warner Bros. for allowing him to take the costume out of retirement, and he looks just as handsome as he did back when he first wore it all those years ago.
“Had the amazing pleasure of attending the #CHOC Prom last night. This is one of 4 or 5 rooms they decorated. It was incredible. I Brought Austin Ames out of retirement, I mean Hey it’s Prom! Met the best kids & got to dance with my Wife at her 1st Prom. Thanku @warnerbrosentertainment for letting me take the wardrobe out for a night. Big win- IT STILL FITS! #cinderellastory #AustinAmesLives #PrincetonGirl #Nomad #prom” he wrote.

Awwww!!! We love everything about this, especially the fact that it was his partner, Sarah Roemer’s, first prom!
In fact, Roemer shared her own adorable picture, where she she wrote:
“I waited for a prince and he took me to my 1st prom.

As Entertainment Weekly have reported, this was the 16th time that the Children’s Hospital of Orange County has hosted a prom for its patients, and the event was attended by 250 cancer patients and their guests. It’s an event that aims to provide some sense of normalcy for those patients who can’t make their own proms due to illness.

Murray also shared a video on Facebook where he expressed his excitement about attending prom 18 years after his own graduation.

Not only are we totally getting nostalgic over seeing Austin Ames again, but we can’t help feeling that Chad Michael Murray looks rather dapper in his costume. Perhaps we could see A Cinderella Story reunion?? (Okay, wishful thinking, but wouldn’t it be amazing?)
Regardless, it’s great to see so many people turn out to make this prom a special occasion for so many children and kids who won’t have the opportunity to attend their own events. Prom is, despite what people say, a right of passage, so we’re glad that they all got to experience it.
