Snowbirds from central Ohio can have two more hometown dining options in Florida by the end of next year when Cameron Mitchell's Ocean Prime restaurants expand to Sarasota and Fort Lauderdale.

Mitchell's restaurant company announced the Fort Lauderdale plans this week. Ocean Prime is to open in 2025 at Las Olas Marina, a picturesque area between the city's Atlantic Ocean beaches and Intercoastal Waterway. It's the first venture into south Florida for Mitchell's restaurant group.

Ocean Prime is set to open in a new Sarasota waterfront called the Quay late this year. Both of the new Florida restaurants are to occupy two-story buildings with outdoor seating on both levels. They'll join existing Ocean Prime locations in Orlando, Naples and Tampa

Mitchell opened the first Ocean Prime in 2006 at Easton Town Center in Columbus, where it's still known as Mitchell's Ocean Club. The restaurants serve steaks, chicken and chops, as well as fish and shellfish. The seafood menu includes classically prepared entrees, such as lobster tails with butter and scallops with risotto, as well as sushi, oysters and customized shellfish towers.

Cameron Mitchell Restaurants also operates two other restaurants in Florida: the Mediterranean-focused Del Mar in Naples and The Pearl in Tampa.
