The 2024 Oscars came and went, and it made for a pretty eventful evening for everyone involved. See: the best and worst dressed celebs on the red carpet, Billie Eilish and Finneas casually making history with their second Oscar win under the age of 30, John Cena going fully nude on stage, and Emma Stone ripping the back of her dress during Ryan Gosling's "I'm Just Ken" performance. Yeah, a lot went down last night, and some celebs ended up missing out on the festivities for different reasons. Wondering where the hell Taylor Swift was? She was probably recovering from her international travel schedule for the Eras tour. As for Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner? Nowhere to be seen (at the main show, anyway). Eva Mendes? She doesn't "do these things" with her husband, Ryan Gosling, anyway. Ahead, find all the celebrities who skipped the 2024 Oscars.
Eva Mendes
Eva has voiced her support for her husband Ryan Gosling throughout awards season, and while she constantly pens super sweet messages for him on Insta, she's not keen on hitting up red carpets with her man. That doesn't mean she wasn't fully in attendance, though.
While Ryan sat in the crowd with his sister, Eva posted a photo where she appeared to be in his dressing room. "You took Ken all the way to the Oscar’s, RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed," she captioned the pic where she rocked his performance outfit.

Taylor Swift
Tay is currently embarking on the international leg of her Eras Tour, which means traveling alone can take up almost an entire day. Plus, she's still re-recording her last two albums and releasing a whole new one, The Tortured Poets Department, in April.
Oscars producer Katy Mullan told IndieWire that the singer was more than welcome to join if she changed her mind. "Listen, we all love Taylor. She's the best cheerleader you could ever possibly have in any audience, whether it's the NFL or an award show, so if she wants to get on a plane and come to the Oscars, then we'll hold a seat for her, 100 percent," Katy said.
Gigi Hadid
As Gigi's low-key relationship with Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper continues to heat up, fans expected the supermodel to make an appearance at the coveted awards show as his plus one.

Timothée Chalamet
Timmy has made his rounds this awards season thanks to Wonka, and some of his Dune 2 co-stars even pulled up to the Oscars this year. Although he fully packed on the PDA with Kylie Jenner at the Golden Globes (whose attendance sparked a bunch of drama 🫣), he probably skipped out on the Oscars to avoid a similar situation from happening.
Matt Damon
Oscars host and BFF to Matt Damon, Jimmy Kimmel, revealed that the Oppenheimer actor would not be in attendance for the main show. However, he and his wife Luciana did make an appearance at Vanity Fair's after-party.

Leonardo DiCaprio
Although Leonardo DiCaprio's Killers of the Flower Moon co-star Lily Gladstone and director Martin Scorsese were nominated at this year's ceremony, Leo likely skipped out on the festivities since he didn't receive a nod for Best Actor.
Michelle Pfeiffer
Ahead of the show, it was announced that Michelle Pfeiffer would present at the awards show, and fans hoped to see her reunite with her Scarface co-star and fellow presenter, Al Pacino. However, Deadline reported that Michelle had to skip this year's Oscars because of "personal family reasons."
Joshua Jackson
While fans wanted to see Joshua Jackson and Lupita Nyong'o debut their rumored romance on the Oscars red carpet, she ended up attending the show with her A Quiet Place: Day One costar, Joseph Quinn.

Wes Anderson
While Wes won his first-ever (!) Oscar for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that he missed the show because production for his next film officially started the next day on Monday, March 11.
Hayao Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki
Studio Ghibli filmmakers Hayao Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki won Best Animated Feature at this year's Oscars, and according to a statement published in USA Today, they skipped the show this year because of their age.
"I am very appreciative that the work that was created after overcoming these difficulties has been seen by so many people around the world," Kiyofumi Nakajima, chief operating officer for Studio Ghibli, said. “Both Hayao and I have aged considerably. I am grateful to receive such an honor at my age and taking this as a message to continue my work."
