There's no one better than a celebrity stylist to help a bride cultivate the dream aesthetic for their wedding day—just ask Micaela Erlanger. The longtime tastemaker, brand consultant and stylist to A-list clientele such as Michelle Obama, Lupita Nyong'o, Constance Wu, Hilary Swank, Winona Ryder, and Michelle Dockery is launching a new arm to her business: bridal styling.

Erlanger launched this new venture when she worked with Amanda Hearst for her summertime nuptials at Hearst Castle, just a few months ago.

What goes into bridal styling? Quite a lot, it turns out. "The wedding from start to finish tells a story, and you want to take the guests on a journey. I work with the planner and the event designer as well as with the hair, makeup, and photography team so all of the visual pieces are aligned." When it comes to weddings, this stylist doesn't mess around with the creation of a cohesive and powerful image. "You don't want any competing parts," she explains.

Of course one of the primary elements that Erlanger focuses on for the big day is the dress (or dresses—since brides are increasingly wearing more than one). Getting the bridal look down pat is crucial, but it has to work with all of the other elements of the event. "What time of day is the sun going to set? what is the setting going to look like and what is the color palette? What's the music that's being played? Like what's the energy or the ambience? These are all the questions that you ask to create a harmonious visual," says Erlanger.

Some other bits of expertise that the stylist can offer: "From my experience with press tours, I know how to help my clients understand their angles and how to pose, but really it's working cohesively from start to finish to make sure that everything is picture perfect."

Make no mistake, though, Erlanger isn't leaving the celebrity styling and brand consulting space anytime soon—this is just an expansion of her role. For 2020 and beyond though: Here comes the bride.
