Believe it or not, spring is just a few weeks away; bring on the cherry blossoms, pastel hues, and dreamy clouds. Spring cleaning is yet another major component of the season, and let’s just say my closet is in desperate need of some help. Thankfully, celebrity stylist and professional closet organizer Caitlin Jaymes, who has worked with clients such as Heather Rae El Moussa, Madison Beer, Glen Powell, and more, weighed in on what’s actually essential for a functioning spring wardrobe — and I’m spilling her picks, below.

6 Spring-Ready Fashion Essentials:

Levi’s Premium Ribcage Straight-Ankle Jeans

Not all jeans are created equally, and that’s why Jaymes recommends snagging denim that “hits at the ankle bone” for the perfect spring fit. "[They’re] going to emphasize the waist and the butt… [they’re] the most flattering on a lot of women.” Jaymes suggests snagging a light blue, vintage wash that’s “easy to dress up or down.” Levi’s Premium Ribcage ankle jeans pass the bill, offering wearers a slim fit, super high waist, booty-enhancing seams, and cropped hem that shows off your shoes without looking baggy.

Franco Sarto Abigail Flat

It doesn’t come as a surprise that ballet flats followed, being that everyone from Taylor Swift to Meghan Markle has worn the style. “Every chic, minimalist vibe needs a ballet flat,” Jaymes said. “I just love them.” She continued to explain that ballet flats elongate your overall look thanks to the peek-a-boo skin that shows at the top of the footwear.  Franco Sarto’s Abigail flats are a great spring option thanks to their banana yellow hue, adorable bow detail, and raised heel. I own these shoes in black and have nothing but praise for them; the round toe, buttery material, and contouring footbed are just too irresistible.

J.Crew Gwyneth Slip Dress

You can’t do spring without a practical slip dress, much like this J.Crew Gwyneth find, including adjustable straps, a ‘90s-inspired fit, and silky material. Jaymes called out slip dresses thanks to their versatile styling abilities; dress them up with a pair of open-toed heels from Covet or down with chunky Steve Madden sneakers. Better yet, slip dresses can be worn just about anywhere, including park picnics, morning walks, brunch dates, and beyond.

Madewell Brightside Rib T-Shirt

According to Jaymes, a simple white tee is a “timeless closet essential” that works for “any style and body type.” This Madewell Brightside rib T-shirt is a great option, featuring a crew neckline, short sleeves, and form-fitting silhouette, which is perfect for wearing with a breezy knit cardigan, tucked into trousers, or with overalls like Jennifer Garner does. Jaymes even recommends layering jewelry to add an “extra pop.” Madewell’s tee isn’t just for spring weather either; celebs like Hailey Bieber, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Demi Moore have made the basic they’re year-round uniform.

Veja Campo Sneaker

The best way to make the most of spring is to head to botanical gardens, bike around town, and visit farmers markets. Make sure you have the right shoes by opting for Jaymes’ pick: white low-top sneakers. She called out the Kate Middleton-worn Vejas, and the brand’s Campo sneaker is currently in stock at Nordstrom. The made-in-Brazil shoe boasts a leather upper, chic logo, and comfortable sole, while the sporty silhouette pairs great with denim jackets, maxi skirts, babydoll dresses, and more. If you need a bit more inspo, just look at Emily Blunt.

Free People Calla Pleated Lined Blend Trouser Shorts

Get ahead of spring shopping by snagging a pair of linen shorts. Jaymes prefers this classy style over Daisy Dukes because of their sophisticated and flattering fit, much like Free People’s pleated trouser shorts, which include a breezy material, muted pink hue, and long hem. Style the bottoms with a bodysuit, some loafers, and maybe even a chic bow.

“You don’t have to be a millionaire to create your dream closet,” said Jaymes. Just secure one, two, or all of the above pieces for a spring-ready collection — because, according to the celebrity stylist, “finding versatile pieces is always worth it.”
