Celebrating Cinco de Mayo in Tallahassee? Here are the restaurants joining the festivities
Annually observed on May 5, Cinco de Mayo is a day of celebration to commemorate the Mexican army's defeat over the French army in the Battle of Puebla.
In the United States, however, this day has transformed into a fiesta fueled by mixed drinks, authentic Mexican cuisine, live music and more.
To help you plan, here's a list of local restaurants offering deals and more for the weekend:
Casa Grande Bar & Grill Mexican Restaurant
3212 Apalachee Parkway
Hours on Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Casa Grande Bar & Mexican Grill Restaurant is offering deals on towers and bucket specials, food and giveaways. DJ Frankie will be providing music for the occasion. For those looking to celebrate extra early, the first 100 customers will receive free shots.
Casa Grande Margaritas & Cocina
1800 Thomasville Road
Hours on Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Casa Grande Margaritas and Cocina is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with $6.99 deals on margaritas. There will also be food, music and Jell-O shots available. Its menu includes bowls, salad, seafood, taqueria, tacos, platters and more.
El Jalisco
719 Apalachee Parkway; 2022 N. Monroe St; 3197 Merchants Road; 2915 Kerry Forest Parkway
Hours on Sunday: vary based on location.
El Jalisco is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with deals on drinks including margaritas, shots and beer. The restaurant also offers, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas and more to pair with drinks.
La Tiendita Mexican Restaurant
1840 N. Monroe St.
Hours on Saturday: 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
La Tiendita normally operates for half the day on Sundays, so to make sure they are giving the holiday a full celebration they are celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, May 4. The restaurant is offering specials on all kinds of menu items, their Brazilian- themed menu will also be available after 5:30 p.m. Live music will be played by Rhys Bennett and the Gringos: Vontade.
Los Compadres
2102 W. Pensacola St.
Hours on Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Los Compadres located in Westend Square is offering burritos, quesadillas, tacos, soups, salads and more for the celebration with a generous cocktails and drink menu to share with friends.
Lulu’s La Mexicana Restaurant
1580 Summit Lake Drive
Hours on Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Lulu's La Mexicana Restaurant, a more intimate space, known for its quality food and family-friendly services, is offering specialty tacos, fajitas, carne asada, chimichangas and more.
Pedro's Tacos and Tequilas Bar
750 Apalachee Parkway
Hours on Sunday: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Pedro's Tacos and Tequilas Bar is continuing the celebration of its one-year anniversary with a Cinco de Mayo celebration that features margaritas, tequila, live music, tacos and pinatas. Its prized menu features bowls, fresh from the grill specialties, tacos and more.
Chain Restaurants
Applebee's Grill and Bar - Applebee's is offering its $1 margaritas and new flavors; Cerveza and Sips.
Chili's Grill and Bar - Chili's is offering margarita specials including on its Marg of the Month, "Tito's Watermelon Spritz."
Chipotle Mexican Grill - Chipotle is offering a $0 delivery fee from May 1 to May 5 with the code CINCO24.
Moe's Southwest Grill - Moe's is offering rewards members burritos and bowls for $5.55.
Taco Bell - Taco Bell is offering reward members five crunchy or five soft tacos $5.
Tijuana Flats - Tijuana Flats is offering $5 deals on margaritas, chips, queso, guacamole, beers and more.
