One of the best - and most beautiful - parts of fall is all the lovely foliage we get on the east coast. Nothing gets me into the season quite like the crisp crunch of leaves beneath my feet, so we decided to make a cookie to pay homage to them in the best way we know how: cookies.

This recipe couldn't be easier, and it's a total blast to do with kids. It starts with refrigerated cookie dough with a little added flour, so the cookies maintain their shape once baked. Divide that dough into four bowls and dye them your favorite fall colors. We chose red, orange, yellow, and green (for those summer leaves still hanging on), but feel free to go wild with the colors - they'll turn out beautiful no matter what.

Mash all the colors together and get to rolling! We found the best batches were rolled thinner, about ½ an inch thick. Cut out your leaves with cookie cutters, we loved these, and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake them about 8 minutes, or until the edges are firm but not browned. Let them cool and watch them float away in the breeze. (Or get totally demolished by cookie monsters.)
