Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at these Greater New Orleans events

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Cinco de Mayo is almost here, and that means it’s time to start getting those weekend plans in place.

Whether you’re looking to grab some food or enjoy live music, several places across the Greater New Orleans area are hosting Cinco de Mayo events.

To help you get in the spirit, WGNO put together a list of events happening across the area on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5.

Where to get beignets in Greater New Orleans

Habeneros

Habeneros Luling is hosting its first Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5 at 4 p.m. According to the Habeneros Facebook page, the event will include live music performances from QUIKSILVR.

Los Jefes Grill

On May 4 and 5, Los Jefes Grill is hosting its Cinco de Mayo Fest at Fat City Park. Organizers say the fest will include food, drinks and live music performances from artists like Choppa, Partners-n-Crime, La Tran K, Subtweet Shawn, Kymbra Li, Margie Perez & Muevelo and more. Zocalo Cocina Mexicana & Cantina

Zocalo Cocina Mexicana & and Cantina is hosting its fourth Cinco de Mayo Block Party from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. with live music, food, drinks and more. According to the Zocalo Facebook page, admission is free.

The Velvet Cactus

Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans

From May 2 through May 8, the Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans is offering a Cinco de Mayo menu including a Baja California Blackberry, a Mexico City Mango or a Cancun Orange Cadillac Jumbo Margarita with chips and queso, as well as tequila lime chicken fajitas. Parlay’s

Parlay’s is hosting a Cinco de Mayo event with Mo Fries. According to the event Facebook page, there will be Mexican beers, margaritas, a Mo Fries food truck pop up and pinata.

Felipe’s Taqueria

Felipe’s locations in Mid-City, the French Quarter, Uptown and Metairie are hosting Cinco de Mayo celebrations. According to a news release the Mid-City event will feature a Lucha Libre match hosted by Wildkat sports. Starting at 4 p.m. each location will have its own lineup of events in addition to food and drinks.

The Shops on Seventeenth Cinco de Mayo Event

On Saturday, May 4, a Cinco de Mayo Sip and Shop event will be held at the The Shops on Seventeenth. According to a news release, the event will include music from Vivaz Jazz Band and margaritas from Tap Truck Nola. Participating stores and restaurants will offer a selection of “shopping incentives.”

Cleary Tavern & Sports Bar

On Saturday, May 4, Cleary Tavern & Sports Bar is hosting a “May the Force meets Cinco de Mayo” event. According to the event Facebook page, attendees can expect a Star Wars costume contest, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, a pinata and music from DJ Flossy.

Gnarly Barley is hosting a Cinco de Mayo event with a Mecxican Lager, a special taco menu from DineGnar and live music from Byron Daniel. According to the event page, attendees can also expect GNARGARITAS Watermelon Haus Marg Cocktails and Micheladas beer cocktails.
