Over the past decade, Blue Bloods fans have come to know and love Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan, a fiery prosecutor who is the one and only daughter of New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan—and who isn’t afraid to stand her own amongst a family of men in uniform. With each passing episode, Erin becomes more and more relatable and, to some, likable. And with this week’s upcoming episode, there will be one more reason to applaud her (or Bridget, really).

On Tuesday, March 29, the CBS Blue Bloods Instagram account posted that the upcoming April 1 episode—which is the first since March 11—is actually directed by Bridget.

The episode in question is entitled “Hidden Motive” and, per usual, features a variety of entanglements. According to the press release, “Frank is blindsided when Mayor Chase bypasses him with a request for Jamie to head his security detail.” Additionally, Danny and Baez are investigating a murder of a wealthy college student (will they get cozy while doing so? The past few episodes make it seem probable, but we shall see), and Eddie is experiencing tension with her partner. So, in short, Bridget's dive into directing has come with plenty of stories to align.

As expected, fans can hardly contain their excitement, both for the fact that the show is finally returning after an unexpected hiatus, but also to see how Bridget’s eye navigates the storyline.

“Congrats! 👏 Hope it's the first of many,” one fan exclaimed.

“Congratulations Bridget, so happy for you,” another fan wrote.

“So excited to see this new episode,” someone else wrote.

Of course, it’s not lost on folks that April 1 is April Fool’s Day, so many fans are posting fingers-crossed emojis, hoping that the news is real and not just yet another elaborate prank. Thankfully, given the press release came out on March 10, it’s likely the real deal.

To watch Bridget’s episode, be sure to tune in to CBS at 10 p.m. ET. or catch up on Paramount+.
