CB2’s Black in Design Collective Launch Is Filled With So Many Luxe Finds
CB2’s Black in Design Collective, which first launched in the summer of 2023, is back with brand-new spring offerings for the home. This release spans from furniture and textiles to ceramics, decorative accessories, and even stylish storage solutions.
The Collective brings together both emerging and established Black artists and Black designers to work under the direction and mentorship of Evan Jerry of Studio ANANSI, who has designed some iconic CB2 staples (including the best-selling Marisa Burl Desk and Jaxx Marble Table, to name a few) while also exploring work in a fine art gallery setting. Every item in the Collective is exclusive to CB2 and celebrates Black excellence. Designers are tapped for their vision and varied global influences, with designs ”sourced from the streets of Paris and Lagos, Nigeria, to the shores of the Caribbean islands,” according to the CB2 website.
The collective also continues to expand its presence by adding new members. This time around, Atelier Masomi (led by Mariam I. Kamara) and Nmbello Des Studio (led by Nifemi Marcus-Bello) will be joining the roster alongside familiar names, like ceramicist Élan Byrd and designers Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters of Forbes + Masters.

Highlights in this new iteration of the collection include the Kishi Rectangular Black Marble Dining Table, the Kamari Oak Wood and Ivory Upholstered Bed, and the sculptural Bese Black Leather Rocking Chair. The Luana Woven Vase is a standout when it comes to the smalls offered. Designed by Byrd, the rattan and iron amphora-shaped vessel references ancient basketry, comes in black and natural finishes, and will add a beautiful hit of texture to a table or mantel. Whether new or part of the existing offerings, all Black in Design Collective pieces are available for purchase at CB2 online and you can find some items in store, as well.
