The New Cats Movie Trailer Is Here, in All Its Confusingly Sexy Glory

Cats movie calamity was unleashed on the internet in July, when the first trailer for the live-action Tom Hooper musical dropped, and it reached a fever pitch last week when Taylor Swift released a song from the movie, “Beautiful Ghosts.”

Now, a brand-new Cats movie trailer has hit Twitter, and I, for one, will never be the same. Watch the whole thing below:

Let’s just go through this frame by frame, shall we?

Hi, Taylor.

I will never get the image of this life-size cat’s coy head tilt out of my mind. It will be there when I marry, when I birth my first child, and when I finally exit this mortal coil. Thanks, Tom Hooper.

“Tonight is a magical night, where I choose the cat that deserves a new life,” intones Dame Judi Dench in her role as respected cat leader Old Deuteronomy. Terrifying! Meanwhile, cats dance and prance around her. Also…terrifying!

How is Idris Elba alarmingly hot even as an anthropomorphized cat?

We get significantly more cat dance sequences in this trailer than we did in the previous one, which is nice, if you like cat dance sequences.

I don’t hate those pearls. Nor do I hate this Cats movie trailer, honestly.

“Cat got your tongue?” purrs a cat mean girl. Classic.

It’s just not a party without Jason Derulo yell-singing, “Yeah!”

“I love it,” growls Idris, and frankly, that just about encapsulates how I feel about this trailer, this movie, and life in general at this moment. It’s technicolor, glittery, unapologetically feline…everything I want a Cats musical to be. I feel like I’m on the ramp up to the cinematic roller-coaster ride of my life; I’m scared, but also excited. Is it December 20 yet?
