Catherine Called Birdy
Lena Dunham (of TV’s Girls) wrote and directed this original network movie—based on the novel by Karen Cushman—about a young teenager in medieval England (Bella Ramsey, who played Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones) trying to avoid the future chosen by her impoverished father (Andrew Scott) (Prime). Pumpkin Everything
An up-and-coming novelist returns to her hometown to look after her grandfather and his pumpkin-themed store while confronting an old flame from her past. Starring Taylor Cole, Corey Sevier and Michael Ironside (8 p.m., Hallmark).

Let the Right One In
Following up the cult success of the Swedish film and then its American remake, this child-vampire saga is now a series starring Demian Bichir, Noni Rose, Grace Gummer and Nick Stahl (10 p.m., Showtime).

Follow four high school students at T.M. Landry, a prep school in Louisiana known for its viral videos of seniors being accepted into Ivy League universities and its 100% success rate of graduates going to college (10 p.m., PBS).

My Life is Murder
Lucy Lawless returns to her role for season three of this feisty streaming murder-mystery series about a New Zealand investigator who takes on a new case each week (Acorn TV).

TUESDAY, Oct. 11
The Winchesters
This sequel to the long-running TV hit Supernatural reveals the demon-hunting Vietnam-era roots of the paranormal-investigating duo’s parents. Jason Eckles, one of the stars of the original series, narrates (8 p.m., The CW).

How a man born into slavery became one of the most prominent and influential voices for democracy in American history (10 p.m., PBS).

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 12
The Bridge
Diane Kruger, Annabeth Gish, Ted Levin and Demian Birchir star in this crime thriller about tensions that erupt along the U.S.-Mexico border when a dead body leads to the bloody trail of a serial killer (Ovation TV).

High Noon On the Waterfront
Documentary timed to the 75th anniversary of the Hollywood Blacklist—the U.S. government’s sweeping attempt to cancel the work of moviemakers and screenwriters suspected of being communists or communist sympathizers—examines two classic films that came out of that dark time, High Noon and On the Waterfront, both of which will air following (8 p.m., TCM).

Winter House
Nine former housemates—and three newbies—return to their cold-weather hotspot in Stowe, Va., where things get so heated this season of the reality series, someone leaves! (9 p.m., Bravo).
