Catching a good time

Apr. 23—A chilly drizzle couldn't keep families and children indoors as more than 100 people came out to the annual kids fishing rodeo organized by Meridian Parks and Recreation. The yearly event at Q.V. Sykes Park serves to both introduce young children to fishing and provide a fun, family-friendly activity.

Parks and Recreation staff stocked the pond with more than 750 pounds of catfish ahead of the rodeo including several special fish bearing tags. Children catching those fish were awarded special prizes.
