It’s in collaboration with Sofia Coppola’s Sofia Wines.

Food & Wine / Catbird

The world of food and beverage-themed clothing and jewelry is a vast, wonderful, and occasionally weird place. We’ve collectively come a long way from Katie Kimmel’s playful t-shirts that boast slogans like ‘Steak Diane’ and ‘Hotdish’ (I personally owned one that proudly declared my love for ‘Mozzarella Sticks’ back in 2016), not to mention niche, viral pieces like the Rachel Antonoff pasta puffer.

But as  the proud owner of a few pieces in this vein, like these Kate Spade Champagne cork heels that happen to have my birth year vintage on them (as if I needed another sign that they were meant to me), I didn’t think my collection of food-themed fashion was really missing anything. Then I saw this  simple yet eye-catching gold wine bottle charm from the Brooklyn-based jewelry mavens at Catbird, created in celebration of Sofia wines’ 25th anniversary.

Tiny Wine Bottle Charm

Named after famed director (think The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette) Sofia Coppola, Sofia is part of the Francis Ford Coppola portfolio, and includes rosé and Blanc de Blancs, the latter of which is made using a blend of Riesling, Muscat, and Pinot Blanc. Available in both canned and bottled forms, Sofia offers a playful take on California bubbly, though the rosé is also available as a still wine.

The collaboration with Catbird is the newest in a series of thoughtfully designed, collectible charms from Catbird. Among my favorites, there’s the croissant designed in collaboration with Brooklyn’s buzziest patisserie, L'Appartement 4F, an iconic New York City coffee cup, a cannoli bearing a tiny pearl, and even a slice of pizza.

The Sofia x Catbird collection includes a can tab charm, an homage to Sofia’s canned sparkling wines, as well as the bottle charm, my personal pick. Both are surprisingly lightweight and can be worn on a chain as a necklace or bracelet — I’m opting to wear mine as a necklace, but I’ve noticed that the charms can also be fashioned into earrings if you’re a little craftier. Both pieces are made in 14K gold, meaning they’re designed to endure the test of time, water, and other elements.

While you have the option to add several of Catbird’s classic chains, like my personal favorite the sweet nothing chain or the 1978 chain for 15% off their usual price, you can also purchase any of these charms on its own and style it however you want to.

Will the charm provide all the joy and crisp acidity of a perfect bottle of sparkling wine? Maybe not, but I’m thrilled to wear a little reminder of celebrations ahead as a piece of everyday jewelry.
