Catbird’s Collab With Jenny Slate Is for Yearners
Catbird’s Collab With Jenny Slate Is for Yearners

Once a romantic, little jewelry store that could barely fit 7 people, Catbird has gone major league. They’ve always been the kind of brand to collaborate with artists and like-minded creatives—one of my first pieces of theirs was a pendant they released with fashion editor Leith Clark. But their latest collab collections have been Phoebe Bridgers, her band boygenius, and now, actress and writer Jenny Slate’s Catbird jewelry collection has landed too.

The pieces feel more like romantic, little tokens found at the bottom of an imaginary grandmother’s jewelry box. A solid 14 karat gold button charm strung on baby blue quilter’s silk, a seashell, braided flat chains reminiscent of vintage styles. It’s a collection for whenever modernity gets a girl down, as it has done for millennia, and she needs to live in simpler, more idyllic times. What some call delusion, others call daydreaming, and either way, there’s nothing wrong with looking pretty and collecting trinkets while doing it.

The collection, which is available to purchase now in Catbird stores and on their website, ranges in price from $54 for a button charm to $890 for an opal ring set in 14 karat solid gold.

I’ve been telling people in my life that heart-shaped jewelry is in, after years and years of being slandered through the mud. Every year This is the piece from the collection that totally caught heart, and maybe it was designed to. There’s no way they came up with an idea so cute and didn’t know immediately it would be a winner. This spinner can be engraved on both sides to include the name or initial of you and your beloved/bff/sister. If you ever wanted to get “Mom” tattooed in a heart, but couldn’t commit to the sailor aesthetic, these innovations are made with you in mind.

Something I’ve been totally obsessed with in terms of jewelry styling is wearing a big, gemmy ring on your pinky or thumb, and I think this glowing opal is the perfect candidate. The opal is a cabochon measuring 8mm by 6mm set east west with four claw prongs. The amount of hardware paired with the stone keeps it really chunky, and the speckled glittery opal gives it that delicateness without being too fragile and dainty.
