Cat Mom Picks Up 20-Pound Maine Coon Cat Just Like a Human Baby

There are so many ways to choose the right pet for you, but not everyone gets to have a say in their pet's looks or personality. Sometimes, the animal chooses the family--not the other way around! Whether it's the universal cat distribution system in action or a rescue situation that someone impulsively agreed to, there are so many ways pets come to join their families. And every journey is beautiful!

For the folks who do get to do their research and choose a pet intentionally, it can be tricky to know exactly what animal you're looking for. But sometimes, you know exactly what you want--just ask cat and dog mom Brooke! Both of her cats are sweet and stunning Maine Coons, who can grow to massive sizes, but their long bodies are just one more thing she loves about them.

She even showed off one of her massive Maine Coons, 20-pound Sirius Black, in a late November TikTok video, and people can't stop talking! The way she picks up her cat like a human baby is just too cute, and his size is honestly impressive. No wonder this regal breed is so popular!

What a gorgeous cat! Sirius Black lives up to his Harry Potter-inspired name perfectly, and not just because of his mysterious smokey coloring. He has long fur just like the character's long hair and beard, and the way he stalks around the kitchen looks just like Sirius in his dog form. After reminding myself of so much of The Prisoners of Azkaban, I just might have to watch the magical movie again!

Needless to say, viewers are downright impressed with the young cat's long body. Sirius's owner, @20brookemarie18, explained that, although he's over a year old, he's nowhere near done growing! Maine Coon cats can keep growing until they're 4 years old, and this guy still has a while to go.

How Big Can Maine Coon Cats Get?

If you think this kitty's size is impressive--just wait! The Guinness World Record holder for 'longest domestic cat ever' is a Maine Coon named Stewie, who measured in at over 48 inches long in 2010. He was also the record holder for 'longest tail on a domestic cat' at 16.3 inches. Now that's a big boy!

On average, though, Maine Coons still tip the scales. Their average length is about 1 meter, or 39.3 inches, long, while their average height ranges from about 9-16 inches. Male cats tend to weigh more and measure longer than their female counterparts, though both genders are expected to have tails as long as their bodies. When Brooke holds up Sirius, it sure seems like he runs on the larger side of average! Whatever his exact measurements are, there's no denying--this is one huge Maine Coon cat!
