Cat Clings to Mom Like a Human Baby While Admiring Holiday Lights

It shouldn't come as a surprise that cats and dogs are often called "fur babies." They are, in fact, our bundles of joy, and we can't deny that they act human-like sometimes!

The mom of a cat named Zoey shares just how true this is in a video posted on December 13. The clip shows Zoey clinging onto her while on a Christmas field trip, and it's the sweetest! She looks just like a human kid!

Aw, look at her! My cat only does this when he's scared. He's also terrified to go outside and would only allow it if he's in his carrier, never on a leash.

However, every cat is different. Some are more willing to explore outside their comfort zone.

Taking Indoor Cats on a Field Trip

If you have an indoor cat who doesn't frequently roam outside, taking them on a field trip to see Christmas lights or take photos with Santa might be a bit challenging. But with some patience and consistency, it can be possible to achieve.

The key is choosing the right harness for your cat, and the best place to get help is a pet store.

Once you have the right gear, you can calmly practice introducing the harness to your cat and gently put it on. Before taking your cat outside with it, it's better to practice walking around your home with it on first.

If you think your cat is ready to take the fun outside, you can try it, but do it gradually and don't force it.

Another option is putting your cat in a carrier or backpack designed for pets.

Incorporating Your Pet in Holiday Traditions

Taking your cat or dog out to join the Christmas festivities with you is a great way to make them part of something fun and include them while running errands.

Whether it's getting them an advent calendar from Trader Joe's, their own stocking, or baking them homemade holiday treats, the options are unlimited. There's something for any type of pet, shy or outgoing.

If your pet is social, you can, for example, take them to see Santa Claus for some holiday photos. Then, turn the pics into Christmas cards to send to family and friends.

Or, like Zoey's mom did, take your pet to see all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood so they can experience the joy of the season.

Whatever you decide to do, always consider the safety of your pet first. If they seem anxious or overwhelmed, it might be best to just curl up in front of the tree together at home.
