Cat Who Can't Get Adopted Because of Her 'Grumpy Face' Is Breaking Hearts

Diva the cat has been at an Australian animal shelter for nearly 200 days now. Day in and day out, she sees visitors pass her by due to one silly fact: people claim that she has a “grumpy” looking face.

Looking at Ms. Diva, it’s clear that all she wants is love and affection. And not to mention, her face doesn’t look grumpy at all—she just looks sad to still be there. This video footage will break your heart.

Diva has feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), which is a highly contagious condition that means she can only be with other cats who also have the virus. These cats lead long lives with the proper vet care, but maybe her condition is what’s deterring potential adopters from bringing her home.

Little Diva is only a year and a half old, meaning that she’s now spent a third of her life at the shelter. She seems so calm for a young cat and it seems anyone would be lucky to have her. Her eyes are incredibly soulful and her personality shines through when she’s interacted with.

According to a little sign on her door, brushing her hair is the way to her heart. The shelter staff member is shown brushing her in the video, and she just starts to melt out of comfort. She lives up to her name for sure! She seems to really love getting attention.

At the shelter, she’s in a special enclosure just for FIV positive cats. At least she gets to spend time with the other cats while she’s there. She just can’t be adopted into a home with non-FIV cats due to her condition.

While Diva is safe and sound at the shelter, there’s got to be a forever home for her out there. She’s captivated the hearts of thousands online, so we hope that she will be well on her way to a forever home soon.
