If you were a child of the ’80s, then Stand by Me is probably permanently burned into your memory as one of THE most iconic road trip movies ever (okay, fine, technically they were ~on foot~, but still!). Adapted from Stephen King’s popular novella The Body and expertly directed by Rob Reiner, this incredible coming-of-age film would go on to inspire an endless number of movies and TV shows – hello, Stranger Things?
But it’s been a hot minute since we’ve checked in with the cast of this landmark film, so here’s a look at the insanely talented cast now.
Wil Wheaton as Gordie Lachance then.

After Stand by Me, Wil famously starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Currently, he has a number of projects going and also frequently appears as a fictionalized version of himself on The Big Bang Theory.
Corey Feldman as Teddy Duchamp then.

After Stand by Me, Corey went on to become an ’80s icon starring in films like The Goonies (actually just before Stand by Me), The Lost Boys, and License to Drive among many others. Currently, Corey is focused on his music career having just released a new album called Angelic 2 the Core.
Jerry O’Connell as Vern Tessio then.

After Stand by Me, Jerry’s acting career stayed relatively tame, however he famously came exploding back onto the scene in Jerry Maguire and recently had roles in Mistresses and Billions. Jerry currently stars on Scream Queens.
Kiefer Sutherland as “bad boy” Ace Merrill then.

After Stand by Me, Kiefer went on to become one of the biggest movie stars of the ’80s starring in films like The Lost Boys, Young Guns, and Flatliners. More recently, Kiefer become a household name again with his popular turn as Jack Bauer in 24. His latest show, Designated Survivor, just started airing on ABC.
John Cusack as Gordie’s (Wil Wheaton) older brother Denny, then.

And finally, Richard Dreyfuss as the “grown-up” Gordie Lachance then.
Richard Dreyfuss now.
Prior to Stand by Me, Dreyfuss had already established himself as a major talent having starred in films like American Graffiti, Jaws, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. After Stand by Me, his career continued to skyrocket with films like Mr. Holland’s Opus (for which he was nominated for an Academy Award). Most recently he starred ABC’s miniseries Madoff as the title character earlier this year.
